Book of Monday

This week we will read Satranç (Schachnovelle, The Royal Game or Chess Story) by Stephan Zweig. Actually you can read it in a day coz it is seventy-one pages and very absorbing. It is defined as novella. It's written that the story is an farewell letter because it is the last work of Zweig before his suicide. And it tells the story of Dr.B who has fever as a result of chess passion. The interesting side is that actually Dr.B.  never played it with another person until he met Czentovic, world champion, during a voyage. Then how and why did he learn playing it? This is the heart of the book because there lies a very sorrowful story behind it. It worths reading to find the answer...
